The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
This is a 52 week non-sessional post i.e. it will include working during the school holidays.
Hourly rate of pay: £12.96 - £13.78
Temporary until 1st April 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant nursery team. There are currently 2 nursery rooms at West Loan Campus.
Preston Tower Primary School is located in the coastal town of Prestonpans. It is a very large school split over two campuses; We currently have over 860 children from Nursery – Primary 7. The school was established in 2019, following the amalgamation of 2 schools.
Our West Loan Campus currently has thirteen P1 – P3 classes and two rooms in our nursery. Our Preston Road Campus has sixteen P4 – P7 classes.
The Senior Leadership Team includes our Head Teacher, 4 Depute Head Teachers and 2 Principal Teachers.

Job Details
To work in support of early years 'staff by contributing towards the creation of a warm, friendly, safe and caring environment for children aged 2 –5 years.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Education: Good standard of general education.
Must hold an SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 6 (or an alternative SSSC recognised equivalent qualification). If not already obtained, you must commit to achieve the SVQ in the appropriate period of registration to meet the SSSC registration requirements.
First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards gaining it.
Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards gaining it.
SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration within 3 months of your start date to ensure that you are registered within the required 6 months.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
