This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and leading a high performing Financial Support Team within East Lothian Council. As Team Leader – Financial Support, you will provide day to day operational leadership across a busy, customer focused service delivering Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Scottish Welfare Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments. You will support staff development, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that services are delivered accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with legislation.
This role is ideal for someone with strong UK and Scottish benefits expertise, excellent people management skills, and a passion for delivering high quality public services.
You will work collaboratively with internal and external partners, contribute to service development, and help ensure that our most vulnerable residents receive timely and effective financial support.

To assist and support the delivery of an effective and efficient Financial Support Service that safeguards public funds, ensures compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and drives continuous improvement in service delivery and operational efficiency.
To maintain the efficiency of service delivery within specified standards/approved budgets and in compliance with the Council’s policies, legislation, and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HND or SVQ4 level and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
