Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).  Part-time hours/sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £15.36 - £16.69

This is a 42 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time, school in-service days, plus  additional weeks during the school holidays.

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, 08:30-16:00 (30 min break)
Starting and finishing times are flexible.

North Berwick High School is a secondary school in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, which recently received an excellent HMIE inspection report. The current school roll is 1060; this is expected to increase significantly over the next few years. Expansion work to create more classrooms and improved facilities is currently underway. Strong links have been developed with the local community and a broad range of extra curricular activities are on offer.  The ethos of the school is underpinned by the NBHS values of curiosity, kindness, diligence and belonging.  We aspire to excellence in learning and teaching and our school motto “Aim Higher” speaks to this ambition.

This post is within our Design and Technology faculty, which includes CDT, Art and Home Economics. There are eleven permanent teaching staff, one CDT technician and one Home Economics Auxiliary all managed by the faculty leader. In addition to the more generic S1 andS2 classes, each specific subject in the faculty is taught at S3, National 4 and 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.  As well as work within the faculty, the post holder will also have some whole school projects.

Job Details

To support teaching staff, with a focus on the work of the CDT department, and to provide support/technical assistance in Art, Drama and, by agreement, other areas of the school.

To ensure that equipment is maintained, and adequate supplies of materials, tools and equipment are available for use by teaching staff and pupils.

Assist teaching staff in demonstrating the use of equipment and preparation and support of teaching areas and workshops.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
A recognised craft apprenticeship, possession of a City and Guilds Certificate Level 3, Higher National Certificate or equivalent.
