The successful candidates role will be to assist the team leader in achieving
increased levels of collection in the areas of Housing benefit overpayments and Council Tax.
You will work as part of a team and will negotiate with customers, making suitable
repayment arrangements, monitoring these arrangements and taking appropriate
recovery action when necessary. You will answer customer enquiries via telephone,
email, written correspondence and also assist customers at the Council’s service
centre.
You will use a number of different databases, including the Corporate arrears
recovery system (CARS) and the Council tax and benefits systems.
You will work closely with the Council’s appointed Sheriff Officers and liaise with
outside agencies as well as other Council services including the MART team.
You should have a minimum of 3 standard grades (1 to be English) or equivalent. A
high standard of customer care skills are required. Experience in Local Authority
Revenue collection would be advantageous, as would knowledge of Council Tax and
Housing benefit overpayments. A working knowledge of Microsoft office packages is
essential.

Depending upon the needs of the service, staff in Hybrid roles will typically work from home for up to 40-60% of the time where the needs of the service can still be met.
