Are you an experienced finance professional who thrives on working closely with services to influence decision‑making and improve outcomes? East Renfrewshire Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Finance Business Partner to provide high‑quality strategic financial leadership and support across the organisation.
As a Finance Business Partner, you will act as a critical link between Finance and service areas, supporting Directors, Heads of Service and senior managers to deliver services sustainably and in line with corporate priorities. You will provide constructive challenge, robust financial advice and insight, and ensure strong financial governance, enabling effective use of resources and best value for the Council and its communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic financial business partnering to assigned service areas, supporting senior officers with financial planning, decision‑making and performance management.
- Leading and influencing financial management within services, ensuring alignment with the Council’s corporate priorities and medium‑term financial strategy.
- Managing and overseeing the preparation, monitoring and forecasting of service budgets, ensuring the robustness of assumptions and the quality of financial information.
- Working collaboratively with services to support efficiency, transformation and service redesign initiatives, identifying financial risks, opportunities and impacts.
We’re looking for:
- A fully qualified CCAB accountant with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience providing strategic financial advice and business partnering within a complex organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information to non‑financial audiences.
- Excellent relationship‑building and influencing skills, with confidence to provide constructive challenge.
Hybrid employees are considered workplace based first, but they will have a level of flexibility to work from home up to 40% of their working week, if it is not to the detriment of their current tasks, team requirements or service needs.
