During your time on the programme you will gain work based practical experience & knowledge of various childcare developments & settings, by spending time in varying nurseries across the Local Authority, allowing you to work with babies, 3-5 year olds and children with additional needs. This work based learning will also be supported by regular theoretical learning opportunities delivered by the Early Years & Childcare Trainer/Assessor. It should also be noted that personal home study will be expected from all participants.

You must have a minimum of National 5 in English. A further 2 subjects at National 5 is desirable. Good communication skills, Good ICT skills, a genuine interest in working with children, and a willingness to work towards a recognised early years & childcare qualification are also essential.

This is a Modern Apprenticeship opportunity, applicants should be between the age of 16 and 19 years or 16 - 29 if you have a disability or are care experienced.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with children. In addition to this, if you have lived or worked in any country outside the UK in the past 10 years, there may be a requirement for an overseas police check.
