As part of our Justice Services Team, supervisors for unpaid work orders are responsible for the supervision of people undertaking Community Payback Order unpaid work requirements at various sites across the council area to ensure a high quality and consistent service.
We are seeking to recruit additional sessional supervisors who can work at weekends and weekdays as required.
Your main duties will be to: supervise groups of people placed in unpaid work groups within the community; ensure standards of conduct and work are maintained; advise and demonstrate tasks to enable offenders to understand and carry these out in a satisfactory manner. The completion of standard paperwork relating to attendance, performance and absence is integral to the post.
You will also have some responsibility for tools and equipment by ensuring proper maintenance and usage and adherence to relevant Health and Safety Directives.
You will have an appreciation and understanding of offending behaviour, as well as the importance of modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes. You will also be expected to have some knowledge of resources required for placements and understanding of health and safety procedures. Previous experience in a position of similar responsibility would be a significant advantage, as will proven experience of hard landscaping tasks.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with children and protected adults. In addition to this, if you have lived or worked in any country outside the UK in the past 10 years, there may be a requirement for an overseas police check.
Please note – all applicants will be asked to provide proof of their right to work in the UK, and any offer of employment will be conditional upon verifying documentary evidence before employment commences. Further information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work
Please note - East Renfrewshire Council does not provide Visa sponsorship.
References – during your application form completion you must provide details of a minimum of 2 referees, 1 of which should be your most recent or current employer. It is also a requirement that the referees are your previous/current managers and are not the details of work colleagues operating at the same level as you or personal referees. Please note only work email addresses for referees will be accepted. Please contact hrdirect@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk with any questions.
