You will supervise a small team of mechanics maintaining a mixed fleet of public utility vehicles and plant in a roadworthy condition, including diagnostic inspection, servicing and repairs. As a nominated tester you will be responsible for the running a Ministry of Transport (MOT) Class 4 and 7 test station. You must have previous experience in the supervision of a vehicle workshop including goods vehicle operators licence regulations and a sound knowledge of large vehicle MOT preparation.

You will have served a recognised apprenticeship and possess City and Guilds Part 2 in Motor Vehicles Mechanics or equivalent. Post apprenticeship experience in both light and heavy commercial vehicles and a current driving licence is essential.

The ability to work irregular hours for standby winter maintenance and good communication skills are also essential requirements.

Please note fitness to drive is an essential requirement of the role and if you are made a conditional offer of employment you will be required to take a form to your GP to verify your fitness to drive group 2 (category C/D) vehicles. You will be liable to pay any fees charged by your GP for completing the form.
