Could you be our next Design Coordinator within our building Design team?

In this role you will organise, plan and supervise a design group that provides a full design and contract administration/supervision service predominately for Council’s operational building and refurbishment projects.

What we are looking for…

The ideal person for this role will be proactive, professional, and consultative in approach, with a strong understanding of how design management supports high‑quality outcomes across building and construction projects. They will be comfortable working in an advisory capacity, engaging collaboratively with services and design teams to influence decision‑making and embed safe, compliant, and well‑considered design solutions. The role suits someone who is adaptable, confident, and motivated by adding value through early‑stage input, technical insight, and clear communication.

Leading a professional and technical team, you will support strategic programmes of work providing a full design and contract administration / supervision service for the Council’s major building and refurbishment projects across operational and commercial property portfolio. This is an area of work which has significant plans for investment as the Council strive to update its portfolio to meet current and future requirements.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and hold, or be able to obtain, professional level membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, RIBA). You will be digitally confident, using Microsoft 365 packages to develop written content, data manipulation and to facilitate virtually and in person. You should also have awareness and wor4king knowledge of relevant specialist systems relating to your discipline, ie Masterbill, Revit, Autocad or suchlike.

Experience in the public or third sector, or political or partnership environments, is helpful but not essential. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and value transferable skills.
