Falkirk Council is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Digital Development Officer to join our Digital, Technology and Resilience team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of innovative digital projects that support council services, improve customer experiences and help deliver our vision of becoming a modern, digital-first organisation.
As part of a multi-skilled development team, you'll design, build and support web applications, websites and digital services used by thousands of residents, employees and partners. You'll also help drive automation and service improvement through technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotic Process Automation.
What you'll be doing
- Developing and maintaining modern web applications and websites.
- Creating and enhancing digital services for customers and staff.
- Integrating systems and applications using APIs and web services.
- Designing and managing databases and data-driven solutions.
- Working with service areas to understand business needs and translate requirements into practical digital solutions.
- Supporting the delivery of technical projects from concept through to deployment.
- Driving automation and efficiency using AI and RPA.
- Providing technical guidance, support and training to system users.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the Council to continuously improve digital services.
What we're looking for
We're seeking someone who combines strong technical skills with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Essential
- Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Development, IT or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing applications using C# and Microsoft .NET technologies.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience designing and querying databases using SQL/LINQ.
- Experience working with and creating APIs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Teams.
- Experience using Git and modern source control practices.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of data protection, security and good development practices.
Requirements
Desirable
- Experience with Azure and/or IIS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Graph and authentication technologies.
- Experience with Power Automate, UiPath or other automation platforms.
- Understanding of Agile, Scrum or Kanban delivery methods.
- Experience working in the public sector.
- Knowledge of GDPR and information governance requirements.
