We are looking for a dynamic individual who can lead improvement through intelligent use of data, robust professional dialogue, and a relentless focus on learner outcomes. Working across our Education Service, you will shape approaches to assessment, moderation, and performance, empowering colleagues and strengthening collective understanding to ensure every learner achieves their potential.

Requirements:

  • be an inspiring and highly effective practitioner with a proven track record in improving outcomes for learners;
  • be proficient with the use of data for improvement;
  • be highly skilled in the use of Excel (or equivalent);
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as highly developed presentation skills;
  • be comfortable and confident in developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, and the ability to adopt a coaching role in relation to building the capacity of others;
  • have the ability to clearly articulate your views and to lead, inspire and motivate colleagues.

Key Tasks

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Local Authority Moderation policy.
  • Review the approach to assessment and recording and tracking learner attainment and achievement, specifically in the BGE.
  • Support establishments to develop their understanding of standards to ensure teacher professional judgements are robust.
  • Co-ordinate local events that provide opportunities to moderate across establishments and professional dialogue and a shared understanding of standards.
  • Support officers with developments as part of the Curriculum Improvement Cycle.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of the Education Service performance strategy to improve intelligent use of data to allow a proportionate approach to service improvement and further develop evidence-based allocation of resources.
  • Assist in the analysis, reporting and presentation of the Education Service’s statistical information, including benchmarking data, for use in performance management, self-evaluation, continuous improvement and policy-making across the Service’s activities.
  • Provide advice and guidance to officers on the data produced to support improvement in learners’ experiences and outcomes across all sectors.
  • Organising, creating and maintaining systems for sharing data and performance management information internally and externally.

This post is temporary until June 2028 due to service requirement.
