The role is part of the project team that will work on the review and rationalisation of items from the Falkirk Council Museum collection and will involve a combination of archival research, physical management of the objects and assisting with the day-to-day management of the museum stores.
The main duties include:
- Follow the agreed methodology designed for the collections review process
- Undertake provenance research, liaising with subject specialist and external stakeholders where necessary
- Update object histories with results of research on the museum’s collections management system
- Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard
- Repacking objects to improve preservation and for transport
- Undertake a planned programme of integrated pest management and environmental monitoring
- Assist with enquiries that may arise from this work
You will have a passion for collections management and care, and a drive to help shape the accessibility, development and use of the collection. The ability to work independently towards a shared goal is also a vital part of this role.
You will have an HND or above in Museum Studies, History, Archaeology or other recognised relevant subject.
