Whitecross Primary School is a non-denominational primary school, which is situated in the rural village of Whitecross approximately 6 miles from Falkirk. There is limited public transport to the village and the village is located 3 miles from Linlithgow.   The school provides education from nursery to primary 7. The present school roll is 50 pupils across P1-7, with capacity for 24 children in the nursery.

Our staff comprises of one Headteacher and one Principal Teacher. We currently have 3 composite classes:

P3/2/1, P6/5/4/3 and P7/6/5. We also have 2 SFLA’s who support our children. 

At Whitecross Primary School we promote caring relationships in a nurturing, safe and inclusive environment. We are committed to improving the quality of Learning and Teaching across the school and aim to provide motivating and varied learning where all can experience success. We have strong partnerships with other agencies and value the support from our parents and wider learning community.

Our School Values

Following consultation with staff, pupils, parents and the wider community we have adopted the values of Aspiring, Honest and Kind. These are embedded in all we do and help promote our positive ethos. We have our ‘Whitecross Way’ which has been devised, written and agreed by all stakeholders.  As a silver UNCRC school we ensure that the rights of our pupils are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring as duty bearers, our pupil’s needs are prioritised.

Parent Council

We have an active Parent Council who aim to:

• To support and work collaboratively with the school in its work with pupils
• To seek and represent the views of parents
• To promote contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the community
• To report to the Parent Forum
• To be involved in the appointment of senior promoted staff in the school.
• To raise funds for the school for the benefit of pupils.

Catchment Secondary School - Graeme High School

Well-established links exist between Whitecross Primary School and its associated secondary school, Graeme High School, with visits occurring in the summer term to support the transition. This allows pupils to become familiar with the new school and new teachers beforehand. Effective cluster working amongst the primary schools, including a joint residential stay, also encourages pupils to meet their new classmates prior to S1. Staff work collegiately across the cluster on many improvements.  This session we are focusing on the Graeme Learner Journey, Curriculum mapping and wider barriers to learning, engagement and attainment.  Secondary teachers of PE and Music deliver weekly lessons to classes to support the teaching of these subjects.
