Falkirk Council’s Child Protection Committee is seeking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to the post of Lead Officer for Child Protection.  If you are ambitious and driven, with significant multi-agency child protection experience and a passion for continuous improvement, then we want to hear from you.

The Lead Officer provides professional support to the Child Protection Committee. The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination, strategic planning and monitoring of child protection practice, policy and process.  The Lead Officer maintains an independent overview of inter-agency child protection activity and ensures continuous improvement in this field.  The post holder will be active across a range of relevant forums, contributing to the sharing of good practice and positive developments in child protection at local, regional and national level.  This includes working with partners to implement the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2021.  The Lead Officer works collaboratively with partners to develop the Annual Child Protection Committee Plan and ensures that activities are focussed to achieve sustained targets to improve outcomes for children in need of care and protection in Falkirk.

Applicants should have the following qualifications: -

  • educated to degree level or equivalent
  • current professional qualification e.g. Social Work, Nursing, Teaching, Police
  • Child Protection Certificate

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
