Job Advert

Are you an experienced social service worker looking for a new challenge? Or perhaps you're passionate about people and looking to change careers? An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) on a temporary nightshift basis, delivering vital support to vulnerable individuals in their own homes.

About the Role

As a MECS Nightshift Worker, you will respond to emergency requests for assistance from service users across the Falkirk Council area. This could include:

  • Responding to emergency calls such as falls or medical needs
  • Providing personal care and emotional reassurance
  • Installing or removing emergency equipment
  • Supporting individuals with dignity and compassion during distressing or uncertain times

This is a lone working role, requiring calm, confident, and quick decision-making in challenging situations.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Are experienced in social services or have a passion for helping people
  • Understand the impact of ageing and disability on individuals’ lives
  • Can work under pressure and remain calm, sensitive, and professional
  • Communicate effectively at all levels – with service users, colleagues, and partner services
  • Are excellent team players who can also work independently and without supervision
  • Are flexible, reliable, and resilient

While previous experience delivering personal care is desirable, it’s not essential – full training will be provided.

Training & Qualifications

You will receive comprehensive training, both formal and informal, including:

  • Moving and Handling
  • Use of hoists and other care equipment
  • Personal care procedures
  • First aid (if required)

Desirable qualifications include:

  • SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards this)
  • Extended personal care training
  • First Aid Certificate

You must either be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or be willing to register within 3 months of starting.

Essential Requirements

  • A full, clean driving licence
  • The ability to work nightshift and lone work
  • A strong commitment to person-centred care and service excellence

Additional Information

This post is temporary until March 2027 to cover a temporary project.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
