Job Description
Falkirk Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Planning Officer (Landscape) to join our Outdoors Team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape high-quality places by providing expert landscape, environmental design, and tree management advice to support place making, planning decisions and strategic development.
About the Role
You will play a key role in delivering sustainable, well-designed environments across the Council area. Working collaboratively with planning colleagues, developers, communities, and external partners, you will:
- Provide specialist advice on landscape design, environmental quality, and tree protection
- Support and influence planning applications, including major developments
- Contribute to the Local Development Plan and environmental strategies
- Develop and implement landscape policies, guidance, and projects
- Lead landscape initiatives, manage budgets, and oversee consultants/contractors
- Represent the Council at public inquiries and stakeholder meetings
About You
You will be a confident and knowledgeable landscape professional with:
- A degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent) and membership of the Landscape Institute
- Strong analytical, organisational, and report-writing skills
- Experience in planning, environmental legislation, and project delivery
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively across organisations and with communities
