Falkirk Council is seeking a talented, enthusiastic and forward-thinking procurement professional to join our Corporate Procurement Unit as a Principal Procurement Specialist on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a high-performing team that is delivering savings, income and wider benefits across the Council’s priority spend areas. We are looking for a motivated individual who can help us build on our success and continue to deliver excellent outcomes for our services and communities.
In this role, you will lead procurement activity across a broad range of commodity areas, helping to deliver the right balance of cost, quality and sustainability.
You will bring the experience and technical knowledge needed to manage complex procurement projects, including open tendering procedures to establish contracts and frameworks, as well as the confidence and understanding required to call off from existing collaborative frameworks.
As part of a successful and valued team, you will use your strong stakeholder engagement skills to build effective relationships with colleagues, partners and suppliers at both local and national level. You will work closely with stakeholders across Falkirk Council and with a wide range of external organisations.
We are looking for someone with strong public sector procurement skills, sound judgement and a positive attitude. You will help us support communities, reduce inequalities, encourage a thriving local economy and contribute to a greener future.
The post offers the chance to take on a varied, fulfilling and challenging role within a supportive team environment, while developing your experience of local government and making a meaningful contribution to the area we serve.
Interviews will take place in person at our office, The Foundry in Larbert. Candidates invited to interview will be asked to deliver a presentation on a topical procurement area and will be advised of the subject at least one week before the interview.
Join Falkirk Council and be part of work that makes a real difference. You will also benefit from a wide range of employee benefits, including:
- Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
- Hybrid working options
- Up to 34 days annual leave and the ability to purchase additional annual leave
- Public holiday entitlement of 8 days
- Occupational sick pay
- Various other employee benefits
Our corporate values - Responsive, Innovative, Trusted and Ambitious - are at the heart of everything we do. If you are ready to bring your skills, ideas and ambition to a role where your work will have a visible and lasting impact, we would be delighted to receive your application.
