Sacred Heart Primary School is seeking to recruit a Principal Teacher of Additional Support Centre. You will work in partnership with parents, colleagues such as Speech and Language Therapist and Educational Psychologist as well as community partners.

The key policy document for Falkirk schools is Learning to Achieve.  This was co-created by headteachers, teachers, early years practitioners, support staff, parents/carers, pupils and other partners.

It sets out clearly our expectations for our class teachers, namely that they are practitioners who demonstrate commitment to meeting the needs of all learners by:

  • reflecting critically on their practice
  • being proactive in seeking professional learning opportunities that further enhance their skills and knowledge
  • adopting flexible, creative approaches to meet the needs of all learners
  • using current educational thinking to inform their practice
  • making good use of professional collaboration in school and beyond
  • communicating effectively with others

We are looking for a Principal Teacher who:

  • has an excellent pedagogical knowledge in particular autism and neuro-affirming approaches for supporting children with a wide range of additional support needs, including neurodiversity, communication differences, sensory profiles and complex learning needs
  • actively engages with current research in ASN practice, uses data and reflective enquiry to drive improvement and models a growth mindset across the ASC and wider school
  • a depth of exemplary primary school teaching experience
  • is committed to and leads continuous improvement
  • inspires, guides and empowers staff within the ASC, building confidence, capability and shared ownership of high‑quality inclusive practice.
  • uses skilled communication and interactions when dealing with children, colleagues, families and partners
  • works effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to bring about improvement through collaboration

You will hold an appropriate primary qualification and have a depth of exemplary teaching experience including relevant experience within Pastoral Support.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.

Applicants are encouraged to be explicit in detailing their skills, experience and attributes that they can bring to this post.

The salary for this Teacher’s post is paid in line with SNCT Conditions of Service, please see Appendix 2.19 - SNCT Handbook
