Falkirk High School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative leader to the post of Faculty Head of Pupil Support.
This is a significant leadership role within the school, responsible for leading a large and faculty that provides a wide range of support for young people across Falkirk High School.
The successful candidate will lead and develop our Pupil Support provision to ensure that all young people are fully supported to achieve their potential. The faculty plays a central role in coordinating support, inclusion, and targeted interventions, working closely with staff, families and partners to ensure that appropriate pathways and supports are in place for every learner.
This role sits at the heart of our vision for Falkirk High School as a community that is both supportive and inclusive. Through leadership of the Pupil Support Faculty, the postholder will contribute significantly to promoting our school values of Ambition, Kindness, Inclusion and Support, ensuring that these are reflected in our daily practice and in the experiences of our young people.
As a key member of the school’s leadership structure, the Faculty Head will also contribute to the wider strategic direction and ongoing improvement of Falkirk High School.
The key policy document for Falkirk schools is Learning to Achieve. This was co-created by head teachers, teachers, early year’s practitioners, support staff, parents/carers, pupils and other partners. It sets out clearly our expectations for our class teachers, namely that they are practitioners who demonstrate commitment to meeting the needs of all learners by:
- reflecting critically on their practice
- being proactive in seeking professional learning opportunities that further enhance their skills and knowledge
- adopting flexible, creative approaches to meet the needs of all learners
- using current educational thinking to inform their practice
- making good use of professional collaboration in school and beyond

Successful applicants will:
- hold an appropriate secondary qualification
- be fully registered with the General Teaching Council, Scotland (GTCS)
- be able to demonstrate that they possess the commitment, knowledge and skills outlined in the Standard for Full Registration
Applicants for a permanent post, who progress to the next stage of the recruitment process, will be invited to participate in a formal interview.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
Approval by Care Commission Scotland is also required.
