The Falkirk way

We are looking for a permanent residential childcare worker to become part of our team within Falkirk HSCP Residential services. We have 2 children’s houses with 5 young people in each house. We strive to provide a loving and safe environment where we work with young people to help them understand themselves and their wider world through emotionally rich relationships, reflection and connectedness.

Our practice model is made possible by our team’s commitment and belief in trauma informed principles. We plan support for our young people with a deep understanding of the impact of trauma experiences on the coping mechanisms of the young people we are privileged to support.

Our approach is also strongly influenced by the commitments within the Promise and an evidence-based belief that loving, safe and consistent relationships have the potential to create growth and change in all of us.

About the job

Working as part of a dedicated team, you’ll offer emotional support and provide the stability of a well-managed, caring environment. From home-cooked meals and school runs to activities and shared experiences. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the household, while receiving consistent guidance and support from your management team every step of the way.

Our young people are active, both within education and in their wider world, therefore a full driving licence is essential in being able to support them with this. Each service has two cars to allow for this.

Our team works a shift pattern that ensures that wakened support is available to them 24 hours a day, you will work as a part of this rota completing early, late and wakened night shifts as per your rota.

You will be joining a team of motivated and skilled residential care workers who are expected and supported to use relationships to solve challenges, to stay connected when things get tough and to explore the potential of the everyday when you have trusted loving people surrounding you.

You will ideally have experience of working within residential care, or comparable experience meeting the holistic needs of young people who have experienced loss and rejection

You will ideally hold relevant qualifications to HNC and SVQ3 level , and be prepared to achieve these within the timeframe set by the SSSC if you do not.
