The Role

This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual, early on in their career, to play a key role in the delivery of Bridge design and maintenance projects across the Falkirk Council area.

You will carry out feasibility, design, contract preparation, site supervision and project management of relevant schemes. You will be involved in supporting other teams internally with Engineering solutions and reports, along with undertaking inspections of Council owned and adopted structural assets such as bridges, footbridges, culverts, underpasses and other structures. The role also includes liaising with internal & external stakeholders & clients throughout projects. You will hold at minimum an HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent discipline) and preferably will be a member of a relevant institution with knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, design, procurement and implementation of Bridge Maintenance.

You will be enthusiastic, ambitious and keen to develop your Engineering knowledge, site experience, organisational and presentation ability and to learn key project management skills. You will be IT literate, have good interpersonal and report writing skills, with an overall professionalism.

You are required to be flexible, innovative and reactive to public demands and pressures including communicating with support with Councillor & public enquiries. You will undertake duties for the Roads, Bridges & Flooding Co-ordinator as required, commensurate to your experience.
