Falkirk Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join the Scottish Welfare Fund Team as a Scottish Welfare Fund Assessment Officer.
This vital role supports some of the most vulnerable members of our community by delivering a high-quality assessment service for applications to the Scottish Welfare Fund. You will be responsible for assessing Community Care Grants and Crisis Grants, ensuring decisions are made fairly, consistently, and in line with Scottish Welfare Fund legislation, guidance, and local policy.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping alleviate poverty and supporting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship or crisis. You will provide advice and guidance to applicants, identify additional support needs, and make appropriate referrals to welfare, benefits, housing, health, and other support services where required.
You will have excellent communication and decision-making skills, a strong customer focus, and the ability to deal sensitively and effectively with people in challenging circumstances. Experience of welfare benefits, poverty reduction initiatives, or working with vulnerable customers would be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the Council’s commitment to reducing inequality, supporting community wellbeing, and delivering high-quality public services.
