The Post

The post sits within our Capital team who work closely with the Treasury function which forms part of the wider Corporate Finance Team.

To expand on the Job Profile for this post and to further assist, details of the key operational responsibilities of this role are:

  • Provide capital monitoring support, assess risks, and forecast outturns to deliver capital investment plans.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, accounting for the additions, transfers, assets under construction, impairments, revaluations and the disposal of fixed assets
  • Provide support, technical advice, and financial guidance as part of the annual rolling programme of Property, Plant and Equipment revaluations.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity to optimise the use of funds and minimise financial risk
  • Support the preparation of treasury monitoring reports, including performance against budget and Prudential indicators
  • Support capital financing activities, including loan charge projections
  • Support the provision of specialist advice to services on capital accounting treatments and project financing.
  • Support the annual statement of accounts, preparing capital-related notes, audit working papers, and responding to external audit queries.
  • Input to the preparation of Treasury Management and Capital Strategies

This is an exciting opportunity to join Falkirk Council’s Capital Team which plays a vital role in delivering the Council’s investment ambitions— managing capital assets, facilitating treasury management, supporting major programmes, and ensuring strong financial governance.
