Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ICT Support Engineer within Infrastructure, Collaboration & Technology, based in the Foundry, Falkirk.

In this role as an ICT Support Engineer at Falkirk Council, you will join the Core Systems arm of the Enterprise Network & Cyber Security team.

Our Core Systems arm manages the servers and key computer systems the Council depends on every day. Think of us as the caretakers who keep all the important machinery running in the background - updating things, fixing problems quickly, and ensuring systems stay healthy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the hardware and platforms that host Council systems

We look after all the physical servers and cloud platforms that Council applications run on, making sure they have enough power, storage, and resources to work properly.

  • Support and administer the email system

Email is one of the Council’s most critical tools, and it requires specialist care. We manage the servers, security, and day to day operation of the email platform, so that messages reach the right people safely.

  • Back up Council data

We take regular copies of all server and important cloud data, so if something goes wrong - like accidental deletion or system failure - we can restore information quickly.

  • Provide specialist support for applications that need extra attention

Some services rely on complex or bespoke systems. We help maintain these, troubleshoot issues, and work with suppliers when needed.

  • Identity Management

We manage digital identities (user accounts), ensuring individuals can securely access the systems, applications, and services required for their role, while maintaining appropriate access controls and permissions.

  • Provide database support

Many applications rely on databases to store their information. We maintain these databases, keep them fast and secure, and fix issues when something breaks.

  • Support the central servers that manage printers and multi-function devices

Printing relies on central systems too. We look after the servers that keep printers, scanners, and copiers working across the Council.

You should ideally be educated to a degree level, with extensive IT experience. You will have highly developed communication skills and experience in customer and supplier management.
