Job Advert

We have an exciting opportunity for a confident, innovative, highly motivated and experienced person to assess and verify social services employees who will be completing Social Services and Healthcare and Social Services (Children and Young People) Awards at SCQF L6, L7 and L9 to meet both Continuous Professional Development and Scottish Social Services Council Registration requirements. Experience of supporting the delivery of foundation and modern apprenticeship programmes would be desirable.

We are looking for someone to add value to our well-established assessment centre and dedicated team of SVQ Assessors.

We are proud of our track record of positive external verification visits by SQA, dating back many years. Some feedback from our recent SQA visits:

Nov 2025 Qualification Verification reports reflected high confidence in the delivery of awards across all criteria with examples of good practice across the three verification groups: Resources, Candidate Support and Internal Assessment and Verification.

A quote from the Qualifications External Verifier “The assessment centre is very well organised with excellent Assessors and Internal Verifiers (IVs) who understand and follow SQA guidance. The feedback from candidates was positive and the assessment decisions sampled were all correct. EVs saw evidence of good, clear planning, support and feedback via the VQfolio e-portfolio system, evidence of high-quality feedback from IVs and there are policies and procedure in place that can support good practice. This is currently a good example of a centre delivering high quality qualifications fully following SQA requirements.”

With a forward-thinking ethos, the centre is developing foundation and modern apprenticeship programmes to develop the young workforce and support career pathways into health and social care.

You will support candidates through induction for their qualification, plan assessments, providing learner support and assess evidence holistically. You should be passionate about learning and experienced in offering additional support to suit a variety of learning styles and abilities. You should have strong organisational and communication skills and be confident in the use of online tools such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office and e-portfolio systems.

The post will be managed by the SVQ Centre Contact and is part of the Social Work Training and Workforce Development Team located in The Foundry, Larbert. Hybrid working is encouraged, supporting flexibility and good work life balance. The post holder will be involved in assessment with local providers and requires experience of working with adults in social care settings. The post requires you to hold a health and social care qualification at SCQF L7 with SCQF L9 supervisory units, or equivalent.

Ideally you will hold the L&D9di award or equivalent Assessor qualification, alternatively you must have a willingness to work towards this professional qualification. Full induction training will be provided for the role.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.

The post also offers good opportunities for career progression.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on: Monday 1st June 2026
