Job Details

Are you an experienced and dedicated professional seeking a rewarding career in auditing? Then look no further, as we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are pleased to announce that, as a result of a recent restructure, an exciting, new opportunity has arisen within Fife Council’s Internal Audit Team as an Auditor, responsible for leading a mini team.

Fife Council is a forward-thinking and community-oriented local authority dedicated to fostering a positive and impactful environment for both its residents and employees.

Our Internal Audit Team plays a crucial role in helping the Council achieve its objectives by providing assurance that the framework of governance, risk management and control is effective and aligned with the Council’s goals.

By helping to ensure our resources are used efficiently and effectively, you’ll add value for the organisation and help contribute to the delivery of essential services.

As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role under a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. Candidates should also be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.

The Person

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • You must have full membership of the IIA, a CCAB recognised body or equivalent.
  • You must be able to lead a team within the Internal Audit function, ensuring that audit plans are delivered to agreed priorities and timescales, whilst ensuring that service levels and customer satisfaction are met.
  • You will have experience of preparing audit planning documentation e.g. Terms of Reference / Audit Programmes and carrying out audit work in accordance with agreed standards, guidance and procedures, with a proven track record of delivery against the audit plan.
  • The ability to analyse problems and determine creative and practical solutions is essential for the role.
  • You will have experience of compiling audit reports, assessing risks and reaching appropriate, evidence-based conclusions and making practical, proportionate recommendations for improvement.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills as you will be required to liaise with all levels of staff during the conduct of an audit (often providing clear and focused advice, guidance and support to management / other stakeholders), and be able to build strong relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • We are seeking an individual who will provide professional leadership and support to the Team and engender a positive performance culture, motivating, empowering and coaching others to give their best and achieve their potential.
  • You will display a high standard of professional integrity and ensure that the Audit Team acts as a role model, demonstrating a high level of ethics and professionalism across the organisation.
  • You will provide support to the Audit Team through personal and team development, coaching, managing attendance, performance and conduct.
