Job Details

We are looking for a highly skilled leader who is passionate about improving life chances through a sustained commitment to leading change and improvement that ensures positive outcomes for children and young people. As an Education Manager in Fife, you will have lead responsibility for specified strategic remit and educational and learning functions within areas of Fife, as agreed with Heads of Service, and will provide key support with particular regard to quality assurance, quality improvement, service improvement, social inclusion and customer care.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Lead on a strategic area of responsibility, as a member of the Education Directorate Leadership Team. One post will initially focus on Early Years and Children’s Services Partnership, and the other post will initially focus on Secondary Attainment and Qualifications.
  • The other aspects will be aligned to one of the three pillars / improvement priorities within the Directorate Plan:
  • Improving Learning & Teaching
  • Meeting Learners’ Needs
  • Strengthening Curriculum Pathways
  • Lead responsibility within Clusters/Localities, providing people and place-based leadership and quality improvement processes.
  • Provide leadership in partnership with all services to contribute to supporting the implementation of the ‘No Wrong Door’ approach across the Council.
  • Have lead management responsibility for a group of secondary, primary schools, special schools and early years centres, with a particular focus on improving the quality of learning and teaching, attainment and achievement for all learners.
  • Ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement to support participation in progressing and evaluating the key aspects of improvement within the Directorate.

Qualifications, Registration and Skill Requirements

  • High levels of interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to professional learning and continuous improvement.
  • Have experience of leading self-evaluation and quality improvement at a high level.
  • Degree or appropriate equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the General Teaching Council (GTCS) in the required Sector, i.e. relevant experience in Early Years and Secondary.
  • Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
