Job Details
Due to promotion and further expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a general practice surveyor to join the Estates Team within Property Services. You will undertake asset valuations, as part of the annual Asset Valuation programme, and general valuations of Council property assets. You will be involved in a wide range of other professional duties, including landlord/tenant activities whilst generally assisting in the delivery of a comprehensive estates service.
Whilst a full-time role is preferred, our progressive Estates Team recognises that may not be for everyone and so we would also like to hear from individuals who desire a more flexible or part-time role.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified surveyor with extensive experience of commercial valuation . Whilst the successful applicant will predominately be involved in the annual asset valuation programme there will be a requirement to undertake a wide range of surveying activity including acquisitions & disposals, landlord & tenant management, property development related tasks and provide a broad range of professional advice on property matters. You will use judgement and experience pragmatically to make decisions, interpret and apply national legislation, providing guidance and applying relevant Council policy.
The position requires someone who is enthusiastic, committed, self-motivated, has a positive, professional and responsible attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team working to tight timescales.
You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the principles of customer care, while displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Person
You should hold appropriate property related degree level qualification and a proven track record in a professional surveying environment as well as a knowledge of the property market and relevant current legislation. The ideal candidate will have;
- RICS Membership with Registered Valuer status (or an ability to secure the same).
- Experience; in commercial asset valuation and of leasing commercial properties, property development, valuation, disposals, acquisitions would be advantageous.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills.
- Flexibility: A flexible attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and pressures.
- Teamwork: Strong team working skills.
We have reshaped our workstyles and have introduced blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
