Job Details
Fife Council is looking for three proactive and skilled Project Managers to join our Structural Services team, to lead the management and delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the region. This includes Structures, Coastal, Harbours and Flooding.
You’ll play a key role in delivering these projects through design, tendering and construction and will be expected to work collectively and individually on the delivery of these projects.
Although a high level of mental agility is evidently required, this work will also be physically demanding at times as it will require site work such as inspections and construction supervision. This may include working adjacent to live traffic, working in watercourses and coastal environments, in inclement weather and lone working.
Position 1 - Within the Bridges and Structures team and will focus on Structural Projects, as well as supporting coastal and flooding projects.
Position 2 - Within the Flooding Shoreline and Harbours team and will focus on Flood Protection Schemes, as well as leading the Council's action under the Local Flood Risk Management Plan and preparing future and updates as required.
Position 3 - Within the Flooding Shoreline and Harbours team, focusing on Coastal and Harbours projects, as well as policy development in the nature of the Coastal Change Adaptation Plan and progressing compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code.
The Person
Desirable criteria of educated to SCQF level 9, which includes an honours degree of civil or structural engineering or equivalent.
You will have good communication skills and be able to transfer these in different circumstances e.g. dealing with members of the public, contractors and team members. You should be a good team player and have the ability to lead and drive projects forward unsupervised to meet deadlines, with input from supporting team members when required.
The applicant should also have excellent knowledge and experience of the construction industry and in particular civil engineering infrastructure and contract management, as well as detailed knowledge in health and safety legislation.
Position 1 - The candidate should have significant knowledge and experience in the design, management and procurement of structural projects.
Position 2 - The candidate should have significant knowledge and experience in Flooding legislation, specifically in Local Authority duties, as well as knowledge and experience in developing flood studies, flood schemes and interpretating flood models.
Position 3 – The candidate should have a good knowledge of structures in a marine environment, as well as a detailed understanding of coastal legislation and harbours functions, H&S knowledge and experience is essential, as well as experience in developing and designing of structural or coastal projects.
