Locations: County Buildings Cupar or Fife House Glenrothes (two posts available)

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise occupational therapy practice and leadership skills. You will work within a supportive community occupational therapy team with line management and supervision from a Community Occupational Therapy Team Manager.

You will work with your own caseload with a high level of autonomy within the scope of the role. The focus of the role is working with people to maximise independence and/or enable safe care within the home environment. This may involve complex equipment and adaptations. You will identify appropriate recommendations working within the parameters of eligibility criteria. You will be required to complete accurate case recording, including reports to evidence need where necessary.

You will provide direct supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistant(s), and support and mentorship to Occupational Therapy colleagues. You will work with the Team Manager to support staff wellbeing and daily practice.

You will also have a role in service development, including a lead role in an identified area of development.

You will have an office team base and it will be expected that you work from the base regularly to carry out certain team tasks, including duty, and to provide support to the team. There is flexibility to carry out some home working using a laptop. You will be provided a uniform for home visits. The role involves lone working in the community. Fife Council provides a mobile phone and fob alert system.

The Person

A professional qualification and registration with Health and Care Professions Council are essential.

You must have the ability to travel throughout Fife

You will have relevant experience and transferable skills working with people with complex needs. This will include skills in assessment and complex clinical reasoning to identify appropriate intervention to meet need.

You will be able to work in a person centred manner and have effective communication skills - particularly in challenging situations.

You must have evidence of ongoing professional development activity

You must have skills in provision of effective supervision and mentoring

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
