Job Details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Social Work Practitioner to manage and further develop the Children Affected By Disability Team in Fife. We are committed to prioritising and achieving best outcomes for children affected by disability. In Fife we put children at the centre of everything we do and we invite applications from candidates who will share our enthusiasm.
The primary tasks of the team are to undertake assessments of need for children affected by disability and work with their carers to create plans which will scaffold identified needs. The team works closely with a range of partners including Health, Education and the third sector.
This is an exciting time to be part of the team, which connects to the wider development of our children's services. We are looking for a confident, experienced and committed person to join us on our journey.
- You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with SSSC.
- You will have significant experience in children and family social work, ideally with management experience.
- You will be able to evidence the management of a range of skills including managing people, complex casework, assessments/planning/delivery within timescales.
- Excellent presentation and organisational/time management skills are necessary along with excellent written and communication skills.
- You will be able to show an ability to develop team plans, development of the service and assessment of future resources.
- An essential skill will be your ability to motivate, support and champion good practice in your team.
- Be confidently able to work effectively with colleagues and partners.
- Effectively use team performance data to monitor standards and performance and ensure compliance with practice standards and processes.
The Person
- You will be able to work effectively with colleagues and partners building on new and enriching established relationships.
- Take on a key role to improve outcomes for children.
- You will directly manage a team of Social Workers and social work assistants and be supported in a range of management tasks by Senior Practitioners.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, you will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.
If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.
