Job Details

The Family Based Care Teams have recently gone through a process of re-design. This role relates to the Team Manager Position within the Permanence Resource Team with the core functions and components of this team being:

  • Supporting permanent Carers, Continuing Carers and Supported Lodgings Carers.
  • Recruitment and Assessment of Adopters.
  • Recruitment and Assessment of Supported Lodgings Carers.
  • Re-assessment of Foster Carers to become permanent Carers.
  • Post adoption support and counselling.
  • Preparation and support groups.
  • Supervision of Foster Carers, Continuing Carers, Adopters and Supported Lodgings Carers.
  • Chairing Permanence and Linking meetings.
  • Leading Permanence Co-ordination Group.
  • Enhanced/additional support at times of crisis.
  • Life-story work.
  • Theraplay.
  • Training.
  • Post box contact.

The Permanence Resource Team structure has been created to offer a service that improves outcomes for children, young people, their carers and families. The post involves some lone working and requires the ability to work flexibly.

The Person

Educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Social Work. Hyperlink to the SCQF Framework: https://scqf.org.uk/the-framework/interactive-framework/.

Post qualifying award/s essential.

You must be able to travel throughout Fife.

The individual should have:

  • Management and leadership experience in statutory Social Work services.
  • Significant experience and skills in partnership working.
  • Quality assurance and data analysis experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • Strong practice knowledge and experience ensuring standards are upheld and delivered.
  • Significant experience in Child Protection.
  • Significant experience of improving outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and adults.
  • High level of competence in performance management.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

As this role requires SSSC registration, you will have three months to apply for registration.

If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.

If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.

As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.
