Job Details

Roads and Transportation are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join our Roads Network Management team. In this role, you will support the Lead Consultant in the delivery of key service functions and provide administrative and technical support to professional staff.

This is a varied position that offers the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. You will also be required to travel to locations throughout Fife as part of their duties.

Your duties will include:

  • Responding to customer enquiries and resolving complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Assessing and processing applications for events that impact the road network.
  • Assessing and approving Temporary Traffic Restriction Orders.
  • Liaising with contractors undertaking works on the road network.
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Assessing and processing road occupation applications and carrying out enforcement activities in accordance with the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
  • Assisting with the administration, licensing, management and enforcement of activities affecting the road network under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
  • Undertaking other duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the post as required.

The Person

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to manage a varied workload, work effectively on your own initiative and contribute positively as part of a team.

Essential qualifications:

  • Educated to SCQF Level 5, including National 5s or SVQ Level 2 qualifications, or equivalent, with Mathematics and English at Level 3 or above.

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Roads Network Management or a related operational environment.

The position has a salary of FC3 £25,604.23 to FC6 £34,914.86. This is a progression post, providing opportunities for development. Placement within the salary scale will be determined by your skills, knowledge, qualifications and relevant experience.

As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a “blended working” arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.
