Position: Head of Children’s Services

Salary: GCC - Grade 10 / LDR2b - £77,596.77 - £90,035.39

NHS – Band 8C - £79,466 - £85,181

Hours: GCC – 35 hours

NHS - 37.5 hours

Contract Status: Permanent

An excellent recruitment opportunity has arisen for two positions of Head of Children’s Services within Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).

The Head of Children’s Services provides strategic direction, leadership and operational management of Children and Family services within one of the three localities - North East, North West, South and/or Families for Children/Residential Child Care.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Officer, you will assume the leadership and operational management responsibility on key strategic or thematic areas of work; such as residential, fostering and intensive and specialist children services. In addition, you will be required to represent Glasgow City HSCP at a national level on such issues as required.

You will require to work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team (SMT), Core Leadership, Children’s Planning and Integrated arrangements and within the Locality Executive Management Team to achieve the objectives of the strategic plan within the locality and across the HSCP.

A key element of the role will require you to ensure the development of integrated approaches to the planning and delivery of health and social care services that effectively meet the demands for care of Children.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will work collaboratively and provide effective leadership for both NHS and local authority services ensuring the delivery of objectives through high impact transformational leadership and the implementation of a robust performance management framework.

You will hold a relevant degree in a Health and Social Care field along with a relevant management qualification. In addition, you must have substantial experience of people, financial and resource management whilst being able to demonstrate commitment to CPD.

This is an integrated position as part of the Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership. The successful applicant, if an employee of the Partnership, will be appointed to the post under the terms and conditions of either Glasgow City Council (GCC) or NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHSGGC), depending on current employer. If the successful applicant is not an employee of the Partnership, they may choose to be appointed to the post under the terms and conditions of either GCC or NHSGGC.

Under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, this post is politically restricted.

These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
