Job Description
Role – Occupational Therapist
Location – GCHSCP Rehabilitation and Enablement Service, within the North East and North West areas of the city.
Contract Status – Permanent

Occupational Therapists based within social work locality teams work with people of all ages who have long-term complex needs. Individuals accessing our services have normally been through the rehabilitation or reablement process and are unable to meet their own needs through self-management. The team utilises specialist skills to improve accessibility around the person’s home by exploring major adaptations, environmental design and housing solutions as well as specialist postural management and equipment.
As an Occupational Therapist working within a busy community team you will demonstrate skills required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the ability to problem solve, plan and manage a busy caseload. You will also have the ability to work autonomously with individuals within the community who have complex needs. The role includes timeous and accurate recording of information alongside meaningful intervention planning.
Applicants must have excellent communication skills, experience of partnership working, assessment and maximising independent living skills. A working knowledge of rehabilitation, housing solutions, equipment and adaptations would be desirable.
Applicants must either possess a Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
Registration with the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) is an essential requirement for this role.
A full driving licence is desirable.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
