Job Description
The opportunity has arisen to recruit a new staff member for the Revenue & Property Team.
The Revenue & Property Team plays a pivotal role within the homeless service provided to residents of the city. We link in with Social care Workers, Property Management Team, Property Allocation team and external agencies to ensure positive outcomes for service users.
We offer a modern office base in a central location, while duties are carried out city wide.
A flexible working arrangement, subject to the needs of the service, is in place.
The role of Revenue & Property Officer is challenging but rewarding and would suit a dynamic, customer focussed individual with the ability to manage their own caseload, the ability to work enthusiastically as part of a fast-paced team, dealing with the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of the community is essential.
Good communication skills, problem solving skills and computer literacy are also essential.
The main duties of the position are managing the rent accounts of residents in temporary accommodation to ensure maximum benefit uptake and reduced levels of rent arrears. This will involve visits to customers in their temporary accommodation as well as by telephone.
Experience of Housing Benefit legislation and debt management are desirable.
The other main function of the post is to meet with service users to complete the necessary paperwork for their temporary furnished flats. this includes, occupancy agreements, Housing Benefit applications and explaining tenancy rules and responsibilities. We have a full, modern induction and training plan in place for new members of the team as well as ongoing support.
It is expected that the suitable applicant will be driven to succeed in achieving results whilst displaying a compassionate approach.
Applicants should be able to maintain attention to detail and accuracy while working in a high demand environment. There is also scope for creative working within an established framework. You should have good time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
