Job Description

Role – Senior Officer (Alcohol & Drug Partnership)
Location – GCHSCP, William Street Clinic, 120 William Street, G3 8UR
Contract Status – Permanent

Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Officer within the Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) Support Team in Adult Services, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP). In this role, you will support the ADP Co-ordinator in delivering the complex and sensitive work of the ADP, which aims to reduce the harms caused by alcohol and drugs across Glasgow.

The Glasgow City ADP is a large and significant partnership of statutory partners, third sector organisations and lived experience and carers groups that work together to tackle drug and alcohol issues in the city. All ADP activity aligns with national policy and local strategy, reporting to the Glasgow City Integration Joint Board (IJB) and supporting the delivery of the National Mission to reduce drug-related deaths and improve lives.

The Senior Officer will work in a small, dynamic team, assisting the ADP Co-ordinator and ADP Chair to deliver the ADP strategic aim to tackle the harms caused by alcohol and drugs in the city. The post holder will work closely with key partners and provide written reports, coordinate national and local reporting requirements, monitor performance of ongoing activity and support the development and planning of new activity.

The post holder will develop collaborations with partners in statutory services, third sector organisations and lived experience and carer groups to meet the ADP key objectives, supporting the delivery and development of the ADP Strategy and the Scottish Government National Mission outcomes.

We welcome applications from people who are motivated, hardworking and knowledgeable, including those with lived experience of alcohol and/or drug problems.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions).

Interviews are likely to take place week commencing 2nd March 2026
If you would like to find out more about the role before applying, you can contact: Gillian Ferguson, ADP Co-Ordinator, on 0777 027 6127 or by email: gillian.ferguson@glasgow.gov.uk
