Job Description

Role – Service Manager (Justice Services)
Location – GCHSCP Justice Services, Glasgow, G1 1LH
Contract Status – 1 x Permanent and 1 x Temporary (up to 12 months)

The Service Manager for Justice Services will lead and develop strategic and operational improvement plans as well as manage, develop, communicate and control operational plans.


This role will require the post holder to develop services and work in close collaboration with key justice partners to deliver on multi agency outcomes.
We are looking for applicants who possess a comprehensive knowledge of statutory responsibilities and relevant legislation along with an ability to lead, innovate and manage staff and resources.


The post holder is directly accountable to the Head of Service for Justice and should ensure that statutory responsibilities are met and service strategies, performance targets, financial governance and plans are implemented and achieved.
Applicants must either possess a Health or Social Care Diploma / degree level qualification, supplemented by additional training, management qualifications, or equivalent management and leadership experience. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.


Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.


Registration to the appropriate professional body. If you registration is with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.


These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Only existing employees of Glasgow City Council or one of its Arms Length External Organisations can apply for this vacancy.
