Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!
We are currently looking to fill a number of posts to join the Asylum and Refugee Team within Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), Homelessness Service to work within a new pilot scheme.
The team will focus on helping individuals understand housing options across Scotland, promoting early integration, and reducing reliance on temporary accommodation.
You will work closely with partners including the Home Office, local authorities, and the third sector to coordinate support and facilitate sustainable Move-on pathways.
The primary focus of our Homelessness Service is to minimise the risk of people becoming homeless, through the provision of good quality housing option assessments, information and assistance, working with colleagues across GCHSCP, voluntary and private sector partner agencies, as part of the broader homelessness prevention agenda.
Where homelessness cannot be prevented, Social Work will take responsibility for the provision of statutory homelessness assessments in line with the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 as amended, secure temporary accommodation, develop person centred care and support plans, provide risk assessments and put in place appropriate support services, and prioritise the provision of settled accommodation where required.
As a Social Care Worker based within the Asylum and Refugee Team you will be expected to manage a busy and varied caseload, work as part of an integrated team, and report to a Senior Homelessness Worker.
The successful applicant will be experienced in managing a demanding caseload, completing needs assessments and providing ongoing support until settled accommodation has been sought.
We are looking for someone who is:
• Enthusiastic
• Highly motivated
• Willing to learn within a changing environment
• A strong communicator
• Able to demonstrate an excellent approach to customer service gained through experience of working with the general public
It is desirable for you to have SVQ level 3 in Social Care/ HNC or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards the qualification.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
Interviews will likely take place week commencing 20th July.
If you would like to find out more about the role before applying, you can contact: Debbie Gregson, Team Leader by email Debbie.Gregson@glasgow.gov.uk
