Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!
Glasgow is a thriving and vibrant city with excellent opportunities to join us and contribute towards helping all our neighbourhoods flourish. The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Social Care Worker to join our NORM Social Work Team.
NORM is a joint initiative set up by GCHSCP and Police Scotland. Its remit is to provide an early intervention service for victims and children affected by domestic abuse across Glasgow; working to increase safety and improve outcomes. The team serves to minimise the rate of referrals to Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration and generic Children and Families Teams by carrying out initial assessment of risk and need, delivering short term interventions and offering sign posting information and advice in relation to all domestic abuse referrals from Police, where a child is involved. This will include home visits when required and working in partnership with health, education and third sector services to reduce the risk of harm and trauma to children and their caregivers caused by domestic abuse.
The Social Care Worker has a responsibility for a caseload of children impacted by domestic abuse. The role is to screen new referrals, assess and offer appropriate short term interventions and signposting whilst partnering with the non-abusive parent to create a safe environment for their children to live in. Additionally, you will gather the views of the child when appropriate and also gather the views from the person who has caused the harm when appropriate which will inform the overall risk assessment. The Social Care Worker has no line management responsibilities.
Please note applicants may be subject to Level 2 NPPV (Non Police Personnel Vetting) checks prior to appointment.
Possession of HNC and/or SVQ3 is desirable however not essential. Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for the above role.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
If you would like to find out more about the role before applying, you can contact: Lesley McCarron, Team Leader on 0141 276 3160 or Lesley.McCarron@sw.glasgow.gov.uk
