Job Description

Role – Team Leader (Justice Services, Youth Court & Diversion from Prosecution)
Location - GCHSCP, 80 Norfolk St, Glasgow, G5 9EJ 
Contract Status – Permanent
 
The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services. We have a large range of services that require to work effectively together, we work in full partnership with our health colleagues and a broad range of partners and we have a key priority in relation to shifting the balance of care across both service areas and promoting more effective early intervention and preventative supports. 
 
The Team Leader within justice has a key role in the delivery of the Justice Statutory Social Work function. They have direct line management responsibility for Qualified Social Work and Social Care staff and the allocation and supervision of Through care licenses, Supervised Release Orders and Community Payback Orders. The post involves risk management and planning around high risk offenders – some of which fall under MAPPA processes. 
 
The Team Leader role in Centre Justice Services supports the delivery of a statutory service in relation to the management of Structured Deferred Sentences and local problem-solving Courts in Glasgow (including the Youth Court). Critical to this function is ensuring comprehensive risk assessment and risk management planning, reviewing of cases to mitigate public protection risks and reduce reoffending rates, and an assessment of needs with clear support plans put in place to address these issues. The Team Leader will also have responsibility for managing the adult Diversion from Prosecution Team. This team Is responsible for the assessment of Diversion referrals from the Procurator Fiscal as well as direct interventions and supports provided to those who have been identified as suitable.
 
Applicants should have substantial experience working in an operational setting and have direct experience in applying Service policies and procedures. Successful applicants will require to undergo vetting for VISOR purposes. Successful candidates will possess the drive and skills required to achieve excellent service practice standards and service delivery. In addition, a key requirement of the post is an ability to support, manage and develop staff, as well as communicate effectively. 
 
Appointees should be committed to effectively managing a team of both qualified and para professional staff including being responsible for their professional performance; the allocation and prioritisation of work; ensuring the provision of high quality assessment, care planning, case management and review; monitoring of practice and performance through planned supervision and the development of the staff via the Council’s PDP process. Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills are essential, as well as demonstrating the ability to engage with other internal and external agencies at all levels.
 
Applicants must possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate commitment to CPD.   Attached to this advert is the Person Specification which details the qualifications, skills, knowledge and competencies that are required for this post.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks. 
 
Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role.  You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date.  Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.
