Role – Team Leader (Older People Services)
Location - GCHSCP, Older People Services, Petershill Business Centre, 28 Adamswell Street, Glasgow ,G21 4DD
Contract Status – Temporary up to 3rd July 2026

The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Team Leader’s to join our Older People and Primary Care Team’s, playing a vital role in improving the lives of individuals across Glasgow.

As part of the Intermediate Care and Discharge to Assess Team, you will contribute to Glasgow’s commitment to ensuring that people are not in hospital any longer than necessary. When individuals are unable to return home immediately following a hospital stay, our team provides essential support in a non-hospital setting. This service helps people regain their independence, with the ultimate goal of enabling them to return home whenever possible.

We have a large range of services that require to work effectively together, we work in full partnership with our health colleagues and a broad range of partners and we have a key priority in relation to shifting the balance of care across both service areas and promoting more effective early intervention and preventative supports.

Applicants should have substantial experience working in an operational setting and have direct experience in applying Service policies and procedures. The successful applicant will possess the drive and skills required to achieve excellent service practice standards and service delivery. In addition, a key requirement of the post is an ability to support, manage and develop staff, as well as communicate effectively. Appointees should be committed to effectively managing a team of both qualified and para professional staff including being responsible for their professional performance; the allocation and prioritisation of work; ensuring the provision of high quality assessment, care planning, case management and review; monitoring of practice and performance through planned supervision and the development of the staff via the Council’s PDP process. Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills are essential, as well as demonstrating the ability to engage with other internal and external agencies at all levels.

Applicants must possess a Degree / Diploma in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate commitment to CPD. Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.

These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
