Job Description
Role – Women's Worker (Justice Services)
Location – GCHSCP, Eastgate, 727 London Road, Glasgow, G40 3AG
Contract Status – Permanent
Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then you’re in the right place.
The Women’s Worker role within Justice Services, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), offers an opportunity to provide a proactive and empowering service to women who have experienced domestic abuse and whose partner or former partner is subject to a statutory order through the justice system. This role involves working in partnership with women, advocating on their behalf with other services to enhance their safety and wellbeing, and contributing to the wider work of Justice Services, including the Caledonian System.
The postholder will work closely with colleagues across Justice Services, the Health and Social Care Partnership, and key partners such as ASSIST, Police Scotland, and Education. A key part of the role involves assessing and responding to risk appropriately, always prioritising the safety of women and their children. This may include addressing practical issues related to a woman’s circumstances and will require a trauma-informed, rights-based approach that recognises the impact of abuse and the importance of respectful, empowering engagement.
We are looking for someone with a deep and nuanced understanding of domestic abuse, including the complex dynamics that affect women’s safety, wellbeing, and recovery. You should be confident in recognising patterns of coercive control, understanding trauma responses, and navigating the challenges that arise when working with both victims and perpetrators. A strong grasp of your responsibilities within the sphere of public protection is essential, as is the ability to assess and manage risk within multi-agency contexts.
Equally important is a commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development. We value practitioners who are open to learning, willing to grow, and able to engage with feedback in a constructive way. You’ll be joining a dynamic and enthusiastic team that values collaboration, compassion, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for women and children affected by domestic abuse and the male perpetrators.
It is desirable that applicants hold a qualification at SVQ Level 3 or HNC in Social Care. An IDDA qualification is also desirable, or a willingness to work towards this. It is essential that applicants have experience of working in victim services and of managing risk in multi-agency settings.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
Interviews will likely take place on the 11th February 2026.
