Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for an Archivist to join us on a full-time permanent contract. As an archivist you will be joining our in-demand City Archives and Records Management service. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports the delivery of Archives and Record Management on behalf of Glasgow City Council.

You will work with Glasgow City’s Archives which is one of the most important cultural and heritage assets in the city. The oldest and largest local authority archives in Scotland, it has collections of international, regional, and local significance. As an archivist you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Museums team. From The Burrell Collection to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, our Museums and Archives are free for everyone to access. The role
As an archivist you’ll be an integral part of the City Archives and Records team. Reporting to the Senior Archivist and working alongside an established team working to deliver archives and records management on behalf of the City Council.
The candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as an Archivist, you’ll need:
• A post-graduate qualification in Archives and Records Administration with a thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of archives and records management.
• Experience of working in a searchroom and an awareness of current archival issues.
• Applicants should be able to demonstrate a professional commitment to ensure that the service meets the highest standards of customer care.
• You will be highly motivated, a good team worker and have well developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Our office based in the Mitchell library which has great links to public transport and free parking within the complex.
This role is working a 35-hour week M-F 9-5, T-11-7pm twice monthly and Saturday 9-5 once a month.
