Salary - £23,148.43 - £24,638.48 per year pro rata (£12.68 - £13.50 per hour)

Hours – Based on our Disability Swim programmes we have a range of hours where you can select your preference when applying for the role. They are:
- 2 x 2.5 hours (Disability Learn to Swim) working evening or weekends, Monday 3.45 - 6.15pm
- 3 x 15 hours (School Swimming Programme) working daytime, Tuesday to Thursday 9.45am - 2.45pm

We are also open to applications from candidates looking for alternative work patterns/hours of work.

Glasgow Life is looking for a Disability Swimming Coach to join us on a part time, permanent contract. As a Disability Swimming Coach you will be joining our in-demand Disability Learn to Swim programme (DLTS) or our ASN schools swimming programme. You will be part of a dedicated team which supports children and young people with a disability to be water confident and learn to swim safely.

The ASN schools programme takes place during curricular time and provides primary 6 & 7 pupils with a physical, learning or sensory disability to develop their water confidence skills.

The Disability Learn to Swim (DLTS) programme takes place in the evening, with the focus being to teach our participants to become water confident, develop their core aquatic skills and learn a life skill.

As a Disability Swimming Coach, you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, playing your part in encouraging people to live an active Glasgow life. Through sport and physical activity, we promote inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city. The role
As a Disability Swimming Coach you’ll be an integral part of the team by delivering and implementing a comprehensive learn to swim programme for people with a disability. Reporting to the Sport and Physical Activity Officer (Cohesion) and working alongside an established team of coaching staff.

If you’re interested in joining us as a Disability Swimming Coach you’ll need:
• Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ) or equivalent Level 1/2 coaching aquatics
• Experience of working with people with a disability
• Able to easily engage, communicate with and motivate people with a disability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work effectively in a team

Our ASN school programme takes place from Glasgow Club Maryhill, Glasgow Club Springburn and Tollcross International Swimming Centre. With the Disability Learn to Swim programme takes place from Glasgow Club Gorbals.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
