What you need to know

Hours: Contracts available range from 10 hours to 35 hours per work. A range of shift patterns are available, with Saturday working included. All shifts are between 9am to 8pm.

Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis. The hourly rate is £13.89 per hour.

What you’ll do

As a Glasgow Life Assistant (Libraries), you’ll be a part of a frontline library operational team, reporting to the Libraries & Communities Officers. You’ll play an essential role in providing a frontline service and by delivering programmes to a range of audiences within the library. Your work will make a visible and lasting difference. This could be:

  • Supporting our communities
  • Sharing a love of Reading
  • Creating cultural experiences
  • Or supporting people to get online

We’re looking for:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to engage with and inspire a range of different audiences including children, young people & families.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also work to own initiative.
  • Proficient literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to work on a flexible pattern of hours including weekend and evenings
  • Aptitude to work with children and young people
  • Be able to work in different departments across the library (if Mitchell based)
