We are recruiting a Head of Finance to join our team of dedicated staff and volunteers. You will be responsible for leading Glasgow Life’s Finance, Strategic ICT and Commercial Retail teams ensuring that Glasgow Life maintains strong financial management, underpinned by effective financial controls, ensuring effective stewardship of resources in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring the development of, commitment to and implementation of finance strategies and processes which support the delivery of Glasgow Life’s Strategic Plan and future vision.
To be successful in this role you'll be CCAB qualified (or equivalent) and have demonstrable leadership and operational management experience within a complex and diverse organisation delivering excellent business and customer focussed service. You'll have strong technical accounting skills in a range of financial areas, including financial planning, financial accounts, capital programme, treasury and risk management as well as specialised knowledge of finance policies e.g. budgetary control, annual accounts and capital planning guidelines. A strong track record of problem solving and solid analytical skill capability to look at and find creative solutions for a variety of operational challenges is essential, as well as the ability to lead, motivate and manage professionals and teams through service improvement and performance management.
With Glasgow Life being a charitable organisation, it is essential that you have an understanding of public sector and charity governance arrangements. You'll be commercially aware and able to apply commercial principles to ‘not for profit sector’. Your communication skills will be second to none, enabling you to engage effectively with Board Members, Elected Members and external organisations. You'll be decisive and resilient and able to adapt quickly to complex situations and problems in addition to showing leadership level corporate judgement skills and applying them in a considered and pragmatic manner.
