Glasgow Life is a charity with a unique mission – to improve the lives of everyone in our city. To help us achieve this, we are seeking Health and Fitness Development Officers to join our team, with a focus on either Fitness Education and Training Development or Fitness and Gym Development.

  • Fixed Term until 28/7/28

Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time or bank job, we will calculate your pay on a pro-rata basis. The hourly rate is £19.88 per hour.

Location:

  • Hybrid. You will spend part of your week at home, and part of your week in one of our offices.

What you’ll do

You will join our established Health and Fitness Team, reporting to the Health, Fitness and Infrastructure Manager. The role will focus on one of two key areas:

  • Health & Fitness Development Officer – Fitness Education and Training Development
  • Health & Fitness Development Officer – Fitness and Gym Development

In either role, you will support the growth of our group fitness and gym products, helping to create innovative services that meet customer needs, improve retention, and generate income. You will also play a vital role in workforce development and driving our digital engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Expand the Fitness Workforce
    Design and deliver CIMSPA-accredited training pathways to upskill staff and strengthen capability.
  • Product and Service Development
    Lead the creation and implementation of a dynamic and engaging product portfolio.
  • Succession Planning and Mentorship
    Establish structured mentoring and support networks for both new and experienced instructors.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation
    Monitor and evaluate the impact of training programmes and product development initiatives.
  • Digital Strategy
    Support the creation and distribution of engaging fitness content across digital platforms.
  • Customer Retention
    Contribute to retention strategies that build loyalty and long-term engagement.
  • Customer Experience
    Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to deliver exceptional service and experiences.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone with the right skills who brings energy to the role. If the following sounds like you, apply today!

We’re looking for:

  • Experience in a Group Fitness and Development Role
  • Experience in a similar role or HND/Degree Level
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good knowledge of current fitness industry trends (particularly group fitness)
  • Evidence of operating services in a commercial context
  • Ability to handle changes and make decisions confidently.
  • Experience and confidence using a broad variety of software and technology.
  • Highly organised and a good communicator both written and verbally.
  • Providing excellent customer care, forward thinker, understands customer needs and expectations.
