Job Description

Glasgow International (GI), Scotland's Biennial Festival of Contemporary Art is looking for an Open Programme Convenor to join us on a part time, fixed term contract for a period up to August 2024.  As Open Programme Convenor, you will be joining us in a new role to support GI’s open programme, working towards the next edition of the festival in June 2024.

The role 
As Open Programme Convenor - Glasgow International, you will be an integral part of the GI team by working to develop strategies of engagement for the communities of artistic practice that GI is currently, or is seeking, to work with, informed by the specific concerns and lived experiences of those communities. In particular, you will support festival projects that are part of GI’s Open Programme - taking place across different Glasgow venues, developed and organised by independent artists, curators, and organisations - ensuring projects organisers are supported throughout the application, development, production and presentation process as part of GI 2024.  You will report to GI Festival Director, and work alongside the GI team. 
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

The candidate 
If you are interested in joining us as Open Programme Convenor, you will need: 
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Experience of working in festivals or contemporary arts spaces and/or arts in education/community settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of Glasgow’s visual art community
- Demonstrated experience of project management 
- Ability to innovate, solve problems and develop new ideas collaboratively, and work as part of a team
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice in community engagement in a visual art context

GI is based at Tramway, 25 Albert Drive, Glasgow, G41 2PE. 

This role is working 28 hours, however as the festival approaches the hours will increase to 35 hours to support the festival development period which begins in January 2024. More information on this will be provided at interview.
