Glasgow Life is looking for a Senior Manager Libraries and Communities to join us on a full time, permanent contract. As Senior Manager Libraries and Communities, covering Operations, Infrastructure and Customer Experience you will be joining our in-demand Libraries and Communities service.

As Senior Manager Libraries and Communities, you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Libraries and Communities team. Our libraries provide a cultural and creative place for all ages, offering a place to read for pleasure and purpose, and collections which support literacy development. Glasgow's Libraries also have e-lending, author talks, book groups and festivals. People can access special collections as well as archives and family/local history. The role

As a Senior Manager Libraries and Communities (Operations, Infrastructure and Customer Experience), you’ll be an integral part of the team by leading on the delivery of an exceptional standard of service across Glasgow’s public and school libraries, the Mitchell Library, and community centres / public halls. Reporting to the Head of Libraries and Communities you’ll lead, develop and inspire an experienced team of managers maximising public participation in venues and programmes across the city.

The candidate

If you’re interested in joining us as Senior Manager Libraries and Communities (Operations, Infrastructure and Customer Experience) you’ll need:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience.

• Leadership experience in delivering excellent business and customer focused services.

• Excellent literacy, numeracy skills for financial and budget management.

• Strong track record of leading, motivating and influencing multi-functional teams.

• Experienced in working closely with stakeholders with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Proven experience of working with local communities and understanding their needs.

• Excellent customer service skills with aptitude to improve scope, quality and take up of services.

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations. The main hub for Libraries and Communities is within the Mitchell Library and our main headquarters is based at Albion Street in Merchant City. Our Mitchell Library office has great links to public transport and free parking onsite. Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working.

This role is working Monday to Friday 9-5pm and the role holder will need to have ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends on occasion, dependant on the needs of the service.
